It seems that the Poles have recently rediscovered an old Polish tradition of drinking young wine. Turns out that the Wine of Saint Martin's Day has been famous in the region (Czech also, for example). This young wine is traditionally uncorked on St Martin's Day i.e. November 11.
So this year, instead of pursuing a bottle of Bojolais Nouvau on the third Thursday of November, I decided I would be celebrating my personal lost friendships day with a bottle of St Martin's wine from the local (Cracow) Silver Mountain Vineyard.
I remember that once, when I was a little girl, I was playing with two friends. Suddenly, one of them told me to go away, she told me I had behaved impolitely to the other one so I would not be allowed to play with them any more.
I was totally confused, not aware what my crime was. I headed home and when I got back my Mom saw me and instantly asked what was wrong. I burst into tears and mumbled that nobody liked me.
Today, I have experienced a replay of that situation.
For a long, long time I had thought I could never be able to tell I had this one favourite film. When someone asked me I just always started listing titles, one after another, very quickly, in a random order. Up until the day I watched Lost in Translation.
And then I watched it again.
And again.
And then I went abroad and watched it after having been living in CPH for a few months.
And then I watched it after I had come back from Denmark.
And then I watched it while living in the Netherlands.
And then I watched it after having come back to Poland.
And today, for the first time, I watched it in a movie theatre.
And every time it left me speechless - every time for more and more reasons.
So, yes, I believe now I can say there is this one film for me that I can call my absolutely favourite.
Great score and soundtrack: music by Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine, Brian Reitzell, Air, and many more.
(Try listening after a sleepless night, when the Sun has not yet risen, but you can already see a hint of the dawn breaking.)

First time in a really long time I went out with a group of friends where I actually lowered the age average. Recently, it has usually been the other way around...
I built a wall.
I have build a wall.
The wall in my friends' house-in-progress.
The wall that some day some one will lean on or hang a picture or sth.
In case you do not believe I have superpower: see proof.
It took me approximately five days of hard work.
But it feels... WOW!!
What happens if you decide, out of the blue, that you should visit a physician?
You end up getting a written referral to see a few more specialists. And a perspective of countless visits, taking medicines and having another pound of flesh cut out by a surgeon. Nice.
There are the bright sides, though. For example: permission to drink a glass of wine every day. Actually, it's more of a recommendation.
So I am officially allowed - strongly advised, even - to become an alcoholic. Unfortunately, it's a give-and-take transaction: I have to stop being a chocoholic at the same time. Hmmm... A tough trade-off.
He turned round, revealing that what had seemed from the back like a harmless navy sweater was actually a V-neck diamond-pattern in shades of yellow and blue — as favoured by the more elderly of the nation's sports reporters.
Bridget Jones's Diary, Helen Fielding
Pity, in the movie Mark Darcy is not wearing a diamond-pattern sweater, which was replaced by a reindeer jumper. Still, the scene is hilarious; it makes me smile and creates some kind of a soft spot for both diamond-patterns and reindeer-decorated cloths. Tricky, since it's Christmas time and reindeer lurk pretty much everywhere and can pop out unexpectedly anytime...
Catching up with Adele: Turning Tables (Live Acoustic) by Adele on Grooveshark
She has been popular for quite a while now. And the more praised she was, the more prejudiced and reluctant I became.
Unnecessarily.
Beaujolais Nouveau is a young wine, fermented for just a few weeks before being released for sale on the third Thursday of November. The wine itself is not really good - but the marketing is.
I am no connoisseur but it seemed like this year's Beaujolais was better than those I had tasted previously. Or maybe the company you drink it with accounts for some of the impression you get on wine... If the latter is the case, then I'm quite positive that, despite its bitterness, for me little is the chance that there will ever be a better one than Beaujolais Nouveau 2011.
